The pupil premium is additional funding for schools in England given by the government to raise the attainment of certain pupils and close the gap between them and their peers. This funding provides the school with more opportunities to support your child as well as providing your child with Free School Meals. It is funding that we, at St James Hatcham, can directly use to further the educational experiences and chances for your child.

We have used this funding well in the past few years to ensure that our Pupil Premium pupils attained at least at national expectations to give them the best start in life. Last year, in the Early Years Foundation Stage profiles, Pupil Premium pupils achieved higher than their peers and higher than Pupil Premium pupils nationally. This demonstrates the success of the early intervention planned for last year.  At Key Stage Two SATs, Pupil Premium pupils had an average point score just above that of their peers, and well above that of all pupils nationally. 100% of Pupil Premium pupils made expected progress from Key Stage 1 to Key Stage 2 in ALL areas and 50% of these pupils achieved more than expected progress in Reading and Maths and 33% achieved this in Writing.
