Admissions
Applying for a place in Reception
If your child was born between 1 September 2019 and 31 August 2020 you can make an application for your child to begin school in our Reception Class during the school year 2024 - 2025. We are conducting open days and if you are a prospective parent or carer you can book in to a tour of the school here.
All families can apply for an Open place. Some families may qualify for a Foundation place.
Applications to St James Hatcham Reception Class will need to be made online via the Pan London eadmissions online portal. No paper forms will be available. The portal opened on the 1st September and parents and carers can begin to make their applications. The deadline for admissions is Monday 15th January 2024.
We appreciate that the online arrangement may prove difficult for some families. There are easy to follow tutorial videos on the eadmissions portal and The Admissions and Appeals Team can also be contacted - Amina Ali is the named team member for Reception admissions. Please feel free to speak to the school office if you need any help or assistance in making your application.
For full details of admissions criteria please download our Admissions Policy below:

In year admissions or applications from overseas
In year admissions:
If you would like your child to change schools in order to attend St James Hatcham, you should discuss the reasons with the headteacher of your child's current school first. If, after talking to the headteacher, you still want your child to transfer to St James Hatcham then you need to complete an online application via the parent portal here.
Your child's current headteacher must complete a Section 9 form before you apply because this will need uploading during the application process.
You will receive an email once your application has been submitted and you will be contacted up to 15 school days from the date the completed application is received.
Applications from overseas:
If you live overseas, you can apply for a place at St James Hatcham if you have documentation proving you intent to relocate to Lewisham. Find out more about the documents required on the Lewisham admissions website. You can also contact schooladmissions@lewisham.gov.uk for more support.
