Collective Worship
A core part of the St James Hatcham ethos and experience
At St James Hatcham, collective worship is a vital and enriching part of daily life, rooted in the Christian vision and values of the Church of England. It offers time for the whole school community to come together to reflect, celebrate, and learn about the Christian faith.
These times of worship, along with regular prayers that take place throughout the day, helps to establish our core values and spiritual growth. It allows us to explore themes that encourage the fruits of the spirit, and to reflect on how God's teachings impact us in our day-to-day lives.
Collective worship is key to nurturing the spiritual, moral, social, and cultural development of every child, helping them to grow into caring, responsible citizens.

Ms Price leads a Monday morning assembly to encourage children to be mindful of the school’s Christian values as they head into the work week.

The vicar, Revd. Capt. Kingsley Yeboah leads worship in the church every Wednesday morning. This encourages the children to engage both with Church of England liturgy and the wider aspects of faith and worship. While all the children are encouraged to attend church worship, parents of children from one of the other faiths covered in the curriculum can request that they be allowed a quiet time to consider the traditions of their own faith.
