Monday 15 July 2024 Unveiling of new climbing space! Today St James Hatcham have finally unveiled the new climbing frame situated in the KS1 playground! Whoop Whoop! The children were incredibly excited with the headteacher, Ms McFarlane, cutting the ribbon after an exciting countdown from the children. This new space will give the children further opportunities to practice skills such as turn-taking, team work, gross motor skills, athletic skills and so much more!

Friday 21 June 2024 Farewell, Beegu! Since the crash landing of a friendly alien called Beegu (who has been hiding at school ever since!), Reception class have shown great kindness to their shy and mysterious visitor. They have been busy writing letters of encouragement, baking mud cakes (Beegu's favourite!) and working together to build a new home for her, as pictured here. Reception received a letter from Beegu today thanking them for their kindness and generosity, explaining that she has been found and taken home by her parents. Farewell, Beegu! Thank you for visiting us. And well done Reception for extending such generosity of spirit and making their new friend feel so welcome.

Wednesday 8 May 2024 Forest School adventures! We are really excited to launch our Forest School outdoor learning in 3 classes this term! The new space has been prepared for a wide range of outdoor learning and developmental activities within nature - sky above us, ground below us!

Tuesday 23 April 2024 Drumroll please ..! Did you know that while at St James Hatcham all of our pupils will experience a year of djembe drumming tuition with our incredible tutor Remi Uzdras? Not only do the children develop their skills and musicianship but there is also a huge emphasis on their ability to work collaboratively and, learn and perform together as a team. Monday 25 March 2024 Training with Bow Arts St James Hatcham staff have enjoyed two twilight training sessions with the wonderful Rebecca Griffiths. We have been getting hands on in developing our curriculum, learning the fundamentals of clay and printing! We can't wait to see these skills developed across the school and to share with you the wonderful outcomes over the summer term! Try and spot the staff work around the school ..!

Monday 18 March 2024 Year 3's visit to Hampstead Heath As part of Year 3's topic, The Stone Age, Year 3 visited Hampstead Heath Education Centre to take part in a Stone Age experience workshop.

Monday 11 March 2024 St James Children Mastering First Aid! Last week, our young learners enthusiastically participated in hands-on first aid training, guided by experienced instructors. This empowering experience not only equips the children with life-saving knowledge but also instills a sense of responsibility and preparedness.

Monday 4 March 2024 Year 6 School Journey begins! Our incredible Year 6 have been working so hard - they have much to look forward to: abseiling, climbing, archery, ropes and pedal carting to name just a few of the activities they will take part in!

Tuesday 27 February 2024 Collective Worship-Stewardship and Easter! This term, the theme for Collective Worship is on Stewardship and Easter! So far children have been thinking about all the wonderful variety of creatures and plants we have in the world and why we should be thankful to God for them. We discussed the importance of taking care of God’s creation because it was He who gave us the Earth and the responsibility to take care of it.Leading up to celebrations of Easter, children will be learning about the significance of some the symbols of Easter and learning about what chocolate eggs, bunnies and hot cross buns have got to do with it, before our final assembly on The Easter Story on Thursday 28th of March; 9:15am for Key Stage 1 and 2:45pm for Key Stage 2.

Friday 19 January 2024 Ahoy! Year 2 visit the National Maritime Museum. This week Year 2 have been exploring and having lots of fun in the Ahoy centre at the Maritime Museum in Greenwich. They are reading, 'Around the world in 80 days!' as part of their current topic, and so also completed a workshop at the museum about Exploration. They looked at the similarities and differences between space and sea exploration and thought about where we would like to travel in the world! Would you rather go into the depths of the sea or the vast expanses of space?

Tuesday 19 December 2023 St James' Whole School Nativity The St James Hatcham children captivated their audience with their dazzling Christmas nativity, showcasing their talent and creativity. There was a great turn out from parents and their applause and cheers filled the hall.

Friday 1 December 2023 SJH are this week's PiXL times table champs! St James Hatcham has emerged victorious as the winners of the National League for the PiXL Times Table App this week! Our children have demonstrated exceptional dedication and mathematical prowess showcasing their ability to conquer the world of times tables! Well done children and thank you to our supportive parents for their unwavering encouragement and partnership in fostering a love for learning.

Monday 6 November 2023 SuperNova Thursdays! This term we have been fortunate enough to have Nova, our amazing Dog Mentor, in every Thursday! Nova has been working with some of our pupils to help them better understand themselves and their emotions.

Monday 16 October 2023 Mission to Mars! Year 3 visited the National History Museum to take part in a special Lego workshop - mission to Mars! The children followed a complex design specification to construct a space rover (or moon buggy!). After this, they were given iPads to code the rover’s journey and finally, tested the durability of our rover on a replica surface of Mars. They did such a remarkable job - we are sure there are future space explorers at St James Hatcham!

Tuesday 10 October 2023 Little Teachers Ms Kay and 10 little learners led a lecture on phonics at Goldsmiths University. These brilliant learners helped students deepen their understanding of teaching phonics effectively, gain insights into engaging students effectively, and maintain their interest and participation throughout the phonics lesson.

Tuesday 19 September 2023 A paws-itive start for a new member of our school family! Today marks the beginning of some very exciting training for Nova, our school dog! Staff will be working hard with her today along with experts from The Dog Mentor trust on her very first day of training.
