Year 6 trip to Gunnersbury Park Museum

As you know, school visits are a key feature of our curriculum as they help bring learning to life. This week, I was fortunate enough to accompany Year 6 to the Gunnersbury Park Museum. What a wonderful immersive, experience! The children dressed up in Victorian costume and re- enacted what it was like to be a child in 19th century Britain. It was exciting… and quite scary! Unfortunately, some Victorian sayings and punishments are still used around the world today! Can you recognise any?

Year 6 also learnt about the hard working life of many children in the Victorian era from waking up at 5am every morning and working 14 hour days! It was a life without the aid of modern technology and it was hard! The children loved the experience but it taught them that with God’s grace, we should be grateful for what we have! 🙏🏽. We hope that you enjoy the clips… they’ll amuse you but also make you appreciate how far we’ve come!
