PE & Sport

P.E & Sports & Health

P.E. and school sport play a very important part in the life of our school.  We believe that P.E. and sport contribute to the holistic development of our children and, through participation, our children build and learn more about our key values such as respect, unity, co-operation and kindness for themselves and others.

Competition is encouraged during our annual Sports Day held at Goldsmiths University. Children as young as four enjoy taking part in this, encouraged by their parents. Through competitions we believe that children develop skills to help them through life such as resilience, discipline, effort and team work.

The school has entered a number of sports competitions and has won many awards under the direction of our specially trained sports leader Mr Garrick and this includes the prestigious Glendale cup. In fact our school is the one of the few one-form entry schools to ever to have won this.

Our specialist sports coach delivers PE in KS1 and KS2 using the Val Sabin Scheme of Work and this exceeds National Curriculum requirements and is fully inclusive. It ensures the systematic build-up of key skills which children need in order to progress throughout their primary years.

At the heart of our PE and Sports Curriculum is a belief that it is every child’s right to be taught about how to be even fitter and healthier and to that end, the school targets children who may need support with managing a better diet and exercise programme.
