School Prayers

School Prayers

Prayer plays an important part in the daily life of our school.

Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

We believe in the power of prayer in bringing comfort, hope and redemption. We encourage our children to use the school Chapel at any time to say their own prayers and develop their personal relationship with God.

We say the Calm School Prayer at the beginning of the school day - this sets the tone for the day, encouraging the children to be calm, work with purpose and to be respectful towards each other.

We pray during assembly - The Lord's Prayer and The Grace are said, reminding the children of our Lord's precious words.

At lunchtime we sing a Lunchtime Prayer of thanks, reminding the children to show gratitude and thanks for what we have.

At the end of the day we light a candle. The children are encouraged to look upon the flame and remember the Christ is the light of the world. We reflect on our day and say an End of Day Prayer that reassures us that Jesus is with us always and will always be a friend to us. Please encourage your children to learn the words and understand their meaning.

You can also listen to and join in with thousands of others by saying the Church of England's prayer of the day here.
